Sometime around 2004 me and Marvin Jaxxon (nowadays better known as Jaxxon from Renaissance Man), who I was dj'ing quite a lot at the time with were getting more and more into all things balearic. We decided to get something done about the lack of such parties in Helsinki, and during the summer of 2005 a monthly Sunday club called Gods of Eden took place on the mbar terrace.

Here's a 74-minute live recording from the last Gods of Eden that happened almost exactly five years ago. I remember it was raining and we had to play inside the bar instead of the terrace, but the good thing about it was that we got night on tape.

Looking forward to this Saturday, as the Chilean house don Matías Aguayo will spin at Nolla. Lots of good things happening in Helsinki next week! As previously mentioned, Shine 2009 will play their debut gig at Korjaamo on Saturday 6th of February, and I highly recommend to check out Nolla with the NYC-based dj/producer Prince Language on the same night as well.

Besides his top-notch remix work and The No Comprendo mixes, Prince Language is known for his edits on the constantly awesome Editions Disco label. Here's one of them, a version of Lindsey Buckingham's 1981 song "Trouble". Get the vinyl from Phonica or Juno!

"Love The Nite Away" by DJ Kaos – especially the remix by the Gothenburg duo Tiedye – was the soundtrack for many nights (and early mornings!) last summer. Anton from Tiedye was kind enough to send their new remix for the Swedish band Syket, coming out officially in March. Laid-back and beautiful, as expected.

My friend Schmami from Low Phantasy is nowadays also a part of the band Shine 2009. Besides composing and producing, he is also singing on the tracks (I had no idea about that before I heard their first demos last autumn!). Hey there!

Music Must Go Beyond Itself, the blog I used to run with fellow Helsinki dj's Jaxxon and Pirkka ceased to exist sometime last spring. Jaxxon has been busy making music and touring the world as one half of Renaissance Man and Pirkka, while being on a hiatus from playing in clubs, has been developing Youkebox, so there was no real need for our collective blog anymore.

However, I'm still constantly djing and throwing parties, so I decided to continue with a new blog, Trackways. Besides informing you about forthcoming events I'm involved with, the focus will be on exclusive mixes, edits, et cetera by me and people I know. Disco, house, rock, electronic, whatever – as long as I like it. Enjoy!
